New Details Revealed Behind Police Sealing Emir Sanusi’s Palace
Although the Nigeria Police Force has not yet issued an official statement on the matter, sources suggest that the move was triggered by intelligence indicating that some residents of Bichi were planning to disrupt the installation ceremony.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
A source, speaking anonymously to the Nigerian Tribune, stated, “It was alleged that Bichi residents were attempting to prevent the installation. The security forces acted swiftly to maintain peace and order.”
The police action also reportedly discouraged prominent figures from attending the event in Bichi.
The installation has caused unrest among locals, who view it as a downgrade for their town. While other towns affected by the dissolution of the five Emirate Councils by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje now have second-class emirs, Bichi has been left with a district head, which many residents see as a demotion.
Some local stakeholders have called the police intervention necessary to avoid a potential crisis. By 7 a.m. on Friday, heavily armed police officers had sealed off the Kofar Kudu entrance to the Emir’s palace, restricting movement in the area.
This development highlights the ongoing tensions within Kano’s traditional leadership, especially following the dissolution of the five Emirate Councils by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi II. The restructuring of traditional hierarchies has led to divisions within the Emirate.
