New Lagos Assembly Speaker Receives Assurance Of Support From Governor Sanwo-Olu

Governor Sanwo-Olu made this pledge on Monday during a meeting with the Speaker at his office in Alausa, Ikeja. He congratulated Meranda on her historic election as the first female Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly.

The Speaker and the Principal Officers of the House were welcomed by Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, during a courtesy visit. This took place just before the start of the weekly State Executive Council meeting at Lagos House, Ikeja.

Governor Sanwo-Olu guided the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where both parties affirmed their commitment to a harmonious and productive relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in Lagos State.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of Meranda’s election and pledged ongoing cooperation for the advancement and development of Lagos State.

“The Governor assured continuous collaboration with Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, representing Apapa 1 State Constituency, and other Assembly members to uphold democratic principles, particularly the separation of powers.

“He also sought the legislative arm’s support for the swift passage of bills essential for implementing his administration’s various programs aimed at delivering democratic dividends to Lagos residents.”
