Having previously played 111 matches and scored 12 Premier League goals for Newcastle, Saint-Maximin agreed to a four-year contract with Al-Ahli until June 30, 2027.
The move has raised concerns among rival Premier League clubs due to speculation that the transfer fee might have been inflated to assist Newcastle in meeting Financial Fair Play requirements.
However, Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, assures that the transfer will comply with the Premier League’s regulations, a sentiment echoed by the league’s CEO, Richard Masters, who maintains the league’s rules are robust.
The smooth transition is facilitated by the fact that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, which owns Newcastle United, also owns Al-Ahli.
