NiDCOM Offers Congratulations To Nigerians Who Won Elections OverseasThe Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Nigerians who recently achieved significant electoral victories abroad. In a statement signed by the Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon. The successful individuals include Dr. Oye Owolewa, who was re-elected as the Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia under the Democratic Party; Chiaka Barry, elected to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Legislative Assembly for the Ginninderra District under the Liberal Party; Segun Adeyina, re-elected as State Representative for District 110, Georgia, USA; and Yemi Mobolade, who made history as the first Black Mayor of Colorado Springs, USA.

Dabiri-Erewa commended their achievements, highlighting their important contributions to the political development of their respective communities and underscoring their roles as exemplary Nigerians globally.

“Your victories are a testament to the resilience, excellence, and commitment of Nigerians around the world. We are immensely proud of your accomplishments and encourage you to continue serving with the same determination and dedication,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

She also offered prayers for their continued success, urging them to maintain their focus on service and leadership.

Dr. Oye Owolewa, a pharmacist, expressed gratitude to his constituents for re-electing him as Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia. Chiaka Barry, with a background in law and public service, was praised for her dedication to both community and legislative work.

Segun Adeyina, who brings over 25 years of IT and project management experience, was recognized for his extensive career, including work with Fortune 500 companies like General Motors and Hewlett Packard/Cap Gemini.

Finally, Yemi Mobolade’s election as the 42nd Mayor of Colorado Springs was noted as a historic achievement, making him the first Black person to hold the office in the city’s history.
