UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, made this declaration during the inaugural Green Economy Summit hosted by Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, in Minna, the state’s capital.
Mrs. Mohammed commended the Niger State Government for pioneering investments in Nigeria’s green economy.
The UN Deputy Secretary-General stressed that Nigeria must initiate a transformation and adopt a new direction that includes all citizens, with an emphasis on investments in the transition to clean energy from renewable sources.
She also highlighted Niger State’s potential to lead the way in this transition, emphasizing that investments in the green economy would unlock significant opportunities for sustainable development, particularly for the younger generation.
