Acting on a tip, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Goverdhan Villas police station, Ajay Singh Rao, and his team successfully captured the accused pair, aged 34 and 32, respectively, on February 28, 2024. The couple had been residing in a rented house near the Om Banna temple in the Suro Ka Fala area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Goverdhan Villas police station.

Deputy SP Rajat Bishnoi Choudhary explained, “The SHO received information about a foreign couple carrying a substantial quantity of drugs in the vicinity, heading towards Dakshin Vistaar Yojna Road.”

In response, the SHO promptly initiated a road barricade. During the operation, the foreign couple, riding a black scooty, was spotted approaching the police team. However, upon realizing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee. The police pursued them for approximately 1.5 kilometers and successfully apprehended them.

Upon inspection, Joseph was found in possession of 21 grams of banned MDMA, while Lilian had around 11 grams of MDMA concealed in her clothing. The seized drugs were confiscated, and both individuals were charged under section 8/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS).

During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that they had been occupying their rented residence since August 2023 without undergoing any police verification. Subsequently, both individuals were presented in court and remanded into police custody.

Authorities plan to conduct further investigations to unravel any additional individuals involved in this drug-related racket.
