The report suggested that Lagbaja had submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu. However, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, urged the public to disregard the rumor. “It is fake news; please disregard it,” he stated in a comment to Punch.
In related news, President Bola Tinubu has issued a new directive to security agencies to intensify efforts against cybercriminals and organized crime groups. He emphasized that agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) must enhance their actions against individuals involved in the possession and trafficking of stolen vehicles.
President Tinubu declared that Nigeria is not a destination for stolen vehicles or other illicit assets. This statement came in response to the recent handover of 53 vehicles and $180,300 by the EFCC to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on behalf of two Canadian citizens who were victims of cybercrimes committed by Nigerian nationals. While commending the EFCC for its efforts, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating all forms of crime and criminal activities.
