Nigerian College Of Aviation Technology Faces Training Challenges Amid Helicopter Shortage....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Acting Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria, Shaka Imalighwe, revealed that the institution lacks any helicopters for training purposes. This disclosure came to light during an investigative hearing conducted by the House of Representatives regarding the sale of two helicopters owned by the College.

Imalighwe, who assumed the role of Acting Rector in January 2024, clarified that he was not involved in the sale process, despite serving as the Deputy Rector when the transactions occurred.

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets, Ademorin Kuye, expressed dismay over the sale of the helicopters to private individuals, leaving the College without any helicopters for training activities.

The committee raised concerns about the transparency of the sale process, particularly given that security agencies such as the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, and Police had expressed interest in purchasing the helicopters. These agencies had formally communicated their interest and even visited the College, but were reportedly denied the opportunity to acquire the helicopters.

Following the investigative hearing, the committee summoned the former and current Ministers of Aviation, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Works and Finance Incorporated (MOFI), to appear at the next session. Additionally, former and current rectors of the College have been called upon to provide insight into the sale and subsequent implications.
