He made the remarks on Saturday during the closing session of the two-day Progressive Governors’ Forum meeting held in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the number of progressive governors has risen from “barely 18 or 19” in previous years to 25 today, demonstrating the public’s trust in the APC’s leadership and vision.
He said, “We are now 25 progressive governors. When we began, we were barely 18 or 19. This growth shows that Nigerians trust our party’s direction.”
Commending his colleagues for their dedication to national development and their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Sanwo-Olu praised the unity and cultural representation displayed during the meeting, calling it a true example of “unity in diversity.”
He added, “I want to sincerely thank my colleagues for staying through more than 12 hours of rigorous discussions. It is never easy, but you all showed exceptional commitment to the progress of our nation. You came prepared, represented your states brilliantly, and Lagos is proud to host you. People back home will ask about this cultural experience because you truly demonstrated what unity in diversity means.”
Sanwo-Olu explained that the APC governors used the meeting to deliberate on critical national issues, particularly security and welfare, and agreed to submit collective recommendations to the president.
He reaffirmed the forum’s loyalty to President Tinubu, describing him as “a father, leader, and humble statesman.”
“For the past 12 hours, we have asked ourselves tough questions: How can we improve the lives of our people? How do we support our president and strengthen our country by advancing the national agenda? We are committed to supporting Mr. President and ensuring his government succeeds,” he said.
