The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had planned a two-day protest on the 27th and 28th of this month to address the ongoing economic difficulties. However, Ajaka cautioned against such actions, warning that a protest could lead to detrimental consequences, including exacerbating the existing crisis, fostering criminality, and heightening insecurity, which may ultimately result in a breakdown of civil order.

Ajaka emphasized the need for a reconsideration of the decision to strike, pointing out that the escalating poverty, primarily attributed to the rapid rise in prices of essential commodities and services, is a shared concern for all Nigerians.

While acknowledging the tangible economic pain, Ajaka urged for a patriotic understanding, emphasizing the importance of not compromising the unity and security of the nation. He attributed the current challenges to systemic institutional adjustments implemented by the government to revive the country’s struggling economy, noting that the hardships are a common consequence of such redemptive economic policies, echoing a global experience.
