Nigerians React As 10 Federal Ministries Set To Receive ₦1 Trillion Each In 2025 Budget

The ministries receiving the largest allocations include Police Affairs, Interior, Defence, Finance, Power, Works, Budget and Economic Planning, as well as Niger Delta, Education, and Health.
The Ministry of Finance has the highest allocation, with ₦17.52 trillion, mainly for salary payments. This represents an 87.78% increase (₦8.19 trillion) compared to its 2023 allocation of ₦9.33 trillion.
The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning follows, receiving ₦6.78 trillion, a 52.35% increase (₦2.33 trillion) from the previous year.
Other significant allocations include:
- Ministry of Defence: ₦2.92 trillion, an 84.81% rise from ₦1.34 trillion in 2024.
- Ministry of Interior: ₦1.13 trillion, up from ₦461 billion in 2024.
- Ministry of Power: ₦2.1 trillion, marking a substantial 510.46% increase from ₦344 billion in 2024.
- Ministry of Works: ₦1.14 trillion, up from ₦657.23 billion.
- Ministry of Niger Delta: ₦2.23 trillion.
- Ministry of Education: ₦2.52 trillion.
- Ministry of Health: ₦1.91 trillion.
The Senate and House of Representatives have approved the ₦49.7 trillion “Restoration Budget” for a second reading, with lawmakers praising President Tinubu for his “good intentions” for the country.
