Nigerians React As Fubara Grants ₦100,000 Christmas Bonus To Rivers Workers And Pensioners

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved ₦100,000 Christmas bonuses for civil servants, public employees, and pensioners across the state.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke.

Dr. Nwaeke explained that the bonus, approved on Monday, is intended to allow workers and senior citizens to celebrate Christmas with ease and happiness.

This is the second time during Governor Fubara’s tenure that civil servants will receive a ₦100,000 Christmas bonus, which surpasses the national minimum wage. However, this is the first time pensioners have been included in the holiday bonus initiative.

In his Christmas message, Governor Fubara urged Rivers residents to embrace peace, love, and unity during the holiday season and beyond.

Through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence to address the country’s economic and security challenges.

“Let us use this season to promote unity and love among ourselves. The challenges we face as a nation can only be overcome when we live in peace and harmony,” Fubara stated.

The governor also expressed optimism for the coming year, assuring Rivers residents that it would bring new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
