Tinubu’s political opponents have increasingly been demanding proof of his educational background. Notably, Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is positioned as one of Tinubu’s key challengers for the 2023 presidential seat, has even initiated a legal action in an American court, requesting CSU to make public Tinubu’s academic transcripts.
Addressing the issue on TVC’s This Morning, Ogunsanya confirmed that he and the President graduated from the Chicago State University’s Department of Accounting and Business Administration in 1979. He stated, “He did attend the university and graduated in 1979 as I did. So I’m here to testify that he did attend the university, and he was a good student.”
Reacting to those doubting Tinubu’s academic credentials, Ogunsanya expressed disbelief at the allegations, emphasizing the impossibility of Tinubu holding high-ranking positions such as a governor and a Mobil employee without a university degree. CONTINUE READING
Highlighting the flexible educational pathways in America, Ogunsanya shared that individuals could transition from junior colleges to four-year institutions, suggesting that this might have been the trajectory Tinubu took. He recounted their initial meeting and spoke fondly of their shared experiences, even pointing out Tinubu’s leadership traits from their university days. He mentioned, “When the time for election came, he surprised me; that was the time he became the president of the club.”
Durojaiye Ogunsanya’s revelations provide a firsthand account of Tinubu’s time at Chicago State University, offering a solid counter-narrative to the ongoing doubts about the President’s educational background. Whether or not these declarations will put an end to the skepticism remains to be seen.
