Nigeria’s Airline Operators Mandated To Source Jet A1 Fuel Exclusively From Dangote – Keyamo
Nigeria’s Airline Operators Mandated To Source Jet A1 Fuel Exclusively From Dangote – KeyamoThe Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that Nigerian airline operators will now purchase Jet A1 fuel exclusively from Dangote Refinery. This decision stems from an agreement reached with the airline operators, which Keyamo has endorsed.
Keyamo made this announcement during an interview with Channels TV that aired on Tuesday. He explained that this development, along with the government’s naira-for-crude agreement with Dangote Refinery, is intended to alleviate pressure on foreign exchange.
“The airline operators recently convened, and with my support, they decided to source Jet A1 exclusively from Dangote Refinery,” Keyamo stated. “Yesterday, we initiated the naira-for-crude purchase with Dangote, which is entirely in naira without any dollar component.”
He emphasized that the timing of this agreement is opportune and will help protect airline operators from the volatility of crude oil prices, ultimately lowering their operational expenses.
“The price of Jet A1 will no longer be influenced by the fluctuations in the international market or the challenges associated with global oil prices. We will be purchasing in local currency, allowing for greater clarity on costs. I am confident this will provide access to more affordable Jet A1 fuel,” Keyamo added.
