This statement was made during a workshop on African Aviation Market Integration held in Abuja on Monday, with the theme ‘Africa Wants to Fly.’
Captain Nuhu highlighted the uniqueness of the theme, which celebrates Africa’s soaring aspirations and limitless potential in the aviation world.
The SAATM serves as a catalyst for the effective implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, facilitating the movement of people and goods across the continent.
Addressing the gathering, Nuhu expressed, “This year’s Yamoussoukro Decision (YD) Week will afford states the opportunity to identify the status of implementation of the YD/SAATM while encouraging member states and all partners to join hands in the implementation of SAATM.”
He further mentioned that the YD Week aims to encourage African airlines to fully embrace the benefits of SAATM and expand their operations across the continent.
Nuhu expressed hope that the week would inspire member states yet to join SAATM to do so without conditions, promoting accelerated implementation.
Nuhu acknowledged the significance of the high-level personalities present at the event, emphasizing their role in highlighting the importance of the SAATM initiative for the growth and development of air transport in Africa. He recognized its potential to enhance air connectivity across the continent.
