Idris Mustapha, the Acting General Manager and Chairman of the Management Committee, explained that the rising operational costs, particularly the increasing price of electricity, had made it unsustainable for the station to continue its broadcasts. This suspension marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s media landscape, particularly for the Hausa-speaking audience, who have been long-time supporters of DITV and Alheri Radio.

“The soaring cost of power has rendered it impossible to maintain effective operations,” the station’s management stated. They expressed regret over the situation and reassured their audience that regular transmission would resume once the financial conditions improve.

“We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause our millions of viewers and listeners,” the statement continued.

Mustapha further explained that the station’s financial difficulties were exacerbated by the failure of several businesses that had previously advertised with DITV to fulfill their financial obligations, further impacting the station’s revenue stream.
