The defendants are accused of disseminating false claims on October 16 that the Department of State Services (DSS) had besieged the National Assembly to facilitate Akpabio’s impeachment. The lawsuit targets the Incorporated Trustee of Order Paper, where the information was allegedly published, along with its Founder and Executive Director, Oke Epia, and Head of Operations, Tony Okeke Ofodile, as the first to third defendants.

Also named in the charges are Edna Bill Ulaeto (Admin/Finance Executive) and Elizabeth Atime (National Assembly lead reporter) as the fourth and fifth defendants. The remaining defendants include Regina Udo (Coordinator of Programmes), Leah Twaki (Social Media Executive), Idongesit Joseph Ekoh (Admin Support), and Edoesomi Sharon Omonegho (National Assembly correspondent), who are listed as the sixth to ninth defendants.

In the first count, the prosecution alleges that the Order Paper, through its representatives, published false information on its online platform, claiming that the DSS had laid siege to the National Assembly in connection with plans to impeach Akpabio. This act is said to violate Section 24(1)(a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015.

The second count accuses the defendants of intentionally publishing defamatory statements about the DSS and Akpabio on their platforms. As of the time of this report, the case has not yet been assigned to a judge.
