In a statement issued on Wednesday, NMDPRA clarified that it had not instructed wholesale gas suppliers to suspend gas deliveries to companies for failing to meet payment obligations. The Authority emphasized that such claims were not related to any discussions held during a recent stakeholders’ engagement in Lagos.

The engagement, which included the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), and other industry stakeholders, aimed to raise awareness about the requirements, opportunities, and benefits of implementing the wholesale supply license, as outlined in sections 142 and 197 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021. It followed a similar event held in Abuja on November 27, 2024.

NMDPRA reassured all stakeholders and the public that the misleading report was entirely unfounded and urged them to disregard it. The Authority affirmed its commitment to ensuring the continuous and uninterrupted supply and distribution of natural gas and petroleum products, particularly as the country approaches the festive season and into 2025.
