Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor, representing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of confiscating a specific legal document from him.

Ejimakor asserted that he brought a “critical” legal document for Kanu’s review during his visit to the DSS headquarters on Monday. However, he stated that DSS officials took possession of the document and did not return it to him before he left.

Making this revelation on X, while announcing his visit to Kanu, who has been in DSS custody since June 29, 2021, the IPOB lawyer emphasized that Kanu should not be subjected to trials under such violations, asserting that it is not a court-martial situation.

“Just concluded today’s visitation with Onyendu #MNK. I brought a crucial legal document for him to review, but, as usual, the DSS seized it and failed to return it until after I left,” Ejimakor expressed.

He further stated, “MNK will NEVER BE TRIED under violations like this. It’s not a court-martial. #FairHearing.”

Recalling recent events, last Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed Kanu’s fresh application for bail pending the determination of the treasonable felony charge filed against him by the Federal Government. Instead of granting bail, Justice Binta Nyako ordered an expedited hearing of the FG’s seven-count charge against him, adjourning the trial to April 17.
