NNPP Strongman Jibrin Reveals Why He Favors Tinubu–Kwankwaso Ticket For 2027

New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said he would prefer to see President Bola Tinubu and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, work together ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Jibrin made the remark on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, when asked who he would choose in the next presidential race.

The lawmaker expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances, stating that he sees no obstacle preventing the President from securing victory in 2027.

“I’m a Tinubu person, and I don’t see anything stopping him from winning in 2027. I like him, and he likes me too. In a working environment, it matters that you have a boss who likes you, and you like him as well, regardless of party affiliation,” Jibrin said.

He, however, refused to dismiss the possibility of Kwankwaso defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the elections, stressing that the former governor has always kept his political doors open for dialogue.

Jibrin added that while he is not privy to Kwankwaso’s exact plans, the option of the former NNPP presidential candidate teaming up with President Tinubu in the APC remains a strong possibility based on Kwankwaso’s past statements.
