No Comment From Aso Rock? Bwala Reveals Why Controversial Ambassador Picks Aren’t Being Addressed
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has explained why the Presidency has remained silent amid the controversy surrounding the ambassadorial list.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Bwala was responding to claims that certain individuals on the list should be excluded because they had previously worked against or insulted Tinubu. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, he noted that over 70 percent of those currently working with the President had, at some point, opposed him.
He emphasized that any public comment on the ongoing debate could be seen as prejudicing the National Assembly, which is responsible for the confirmation process.
“Our stance from the Presidency is to remain silent until the National Assembly completes its confirmation process,” Bwala said. “Engaging in the debate now could influence the outcome, and the process itself determines who will eventually be sworn in as ambassadors.”
Bwala also highlighted the political nature of appointments, explaining that leaders must exercise discretion when deciding whether to work with individuals who had opposed them in the past.
“Looking at Tinubu’s history, I can say that more than 70 percent of those around him have opposed him at some point,” he said.
Recalling a personal encounter with the President, Bwala shared how Tinubu stressed the importance of accommodating even those who had previously worked against him. He said Tinubu attributed this approach to the lessons his mother taught him as a leader of market women.
“She taught him that if you hold grudges against everyone who offends you, you will wake up one day with no one left to lead,” Bwala recounted.
