No Dancing Here! Mo Abudu Reveals Why She Can’t Groove To Market Films
Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has revealed that she has no intention of promoting her films through dance videos, explaining that such methods do not align with her personality or strengths.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
She made the remarks during the Lagos Business of Film Summit, where she discussed the evolving strategies for film promotion in Nigeria.
Abudu commended popular filmmakers Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham for their energetic dance routines, which have successfully drawn large audiences to cinemas.
However, the EbonyLife Media CEO explained that while she respects this approach, she lacks the energy and skill to adopt it herself. She emphasized that she has informed her team that dancing will not be part of her personal promotional efforts, leaving such tasks to others if necessary.
She stressed that the film industry must recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for box office success. According to Abudu, filmmakers should focus on strategies that suit their individual strengths, especially as audience tastes and marketing demands continue to evolve.
“I look at Funke and Toyin and wonder where they get all that energy,” Abudu said.
“I’ve told my team: I can’t dance. So go find someone else to do the dancing because it’s not going to be me. We need to understand what it takes today to achieve box office success in Nigeria.”
