He made the appeal during the party’s zonal congresses held on Wednesday across the country. The events took place at APC zonal headquarters: Gombe for North East, Lafia for North Central, Kaduna for North West, Asaba for South South, Enugu for South East, and Lagos for South West.
At the North Central zonal congress, the region officially adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for 2027. Akume moved the adoption motion, which was seconded by the host governor, Abdullahi Sule, who highlighted the party’s achievements under Tinubu’s leadership.
Emphasizing the zone’s contributions to national development, Akume urged party members to work tirelessly, saying, “Don’t sleep. You must toil and sweat as if you were controlling only 10 states.”
