In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Etim-Effiong admitted that while he doesn’t fully embrace the label of “womanizer,” there was a time in his life when he engaged in dating multiple women, albeit not for an extended period.

When Chude asked, “Were you a womanizer before you got married?”, the actor responded, “It depends on your definition of a womanizer.” When Chude clarified it as “a man who dates multiple women at the same time,” Etim-Effiong said:
“By that definition, there might have been a time in my life when I was, though not for long. There were certain phases in which I explored.”

He described those periods as “times of learning,” adding: “If I learned something from it, then I believe it was a good period.”

Speaking on what he learned, Etim-Effiong said:
“I realized that some things don’t bring the kind of fulfilment you expect. On the surface, it may seem like the ideal lifestyle, but in practice, it’s often empty.”

The actor now frequently advises young people to avoid the path of womanizing, emphasizing that such habits can deeply affect their ability to maintain healthy, long-term relationships—especially in marriage.

“Being a ‘player’ may seem fun, but it’s a habit that doesn’t simply disappear after marriage,” he warned.
“If you haven’t developed the discipline to commit to one person, marriage won’t magically change that. You’ll face challenges and be tempted to walk away or look for someone else who understands you better.”

Etim-Effiong cautioned that the emotional habits formed before marriage often follow people into it, making it harder to sustain commitment if those habits aren’t addressed early.
