North Central APC Pauses Ganduje’s Resignation Request Ahead Of NEC MeetingThe North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has decided to suspend its demand for the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the APC ahead of the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The forum, which has historically opposed Ganduje’s appointment, believes that the chairmanship should belong to the North Central region as stipulated in the party’s amended 2022 constitution.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Previously, the forum engaged in protests, press conferences, and legal action, including a lawsuit against Ganduje in a Federal High Court in Abuja aimed at nullifying his appointment.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, emphasized that their opposition was not personal. He noted that efforts for peace and reconciliation have been initiated, demonstrating the forum’s dedication to the party’s progress and the upcoming NEC meeting.
Zazzaga reflected on the forum’s seven-year history of advocacy for their region and reiterated their stance that the successor to former National Chairman Sen. Abdullahi Adamu should have been from the North Central zone.
Despite their legal efforts, the court ruled against them, but Zazzaga expressed gratitude for their resilience and commitment. He made it clear that their activism is rooted in the belief that the national chairmanship should have remained in their region following Adamu’s resignation.
Acknowledging the NEC’s authority to make decisions regarding party leadership and zoning, Zazzaga announced that the forum has unanimously agreed to suspend their agitation until after the NEC meeting. He asserted that this decision aligns with their principles of fairness, equity, and justice, aiming to prevent discord among political leaders from the North Central zone and other party leaders.
The forum believes that this pause will allow the North Central region to be fairly represented in discussions at the NEC and to negotiate for specific benefits for their zone as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
