Not My Path!” – Senator Olujimi Exposes Why She Snubbed ADC Coalition

Former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Biodun Olujimi, has explained why she ruled out joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), despite the presence of respected individuals within the party.

Speaking during Thursday’s edition of Politics Today on Channels Television, Olujimi—who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC)—said the ADC lacked the structure and strategic foundation needed to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

When asked if she considered joining the ADC, Olujimi stated that while she holds the party’s leaders in high regard, the coalition is poorly structured and not well-organized.

She further noted that she had hoped any political coalition would emerge within the PDP, a party with more defined structures. According to her, starting over in a less-established party like ADC, especially with the presidential primaries fast approaching, would have been unrealistic.

“It was a no-go area for me. Although many of the ADC leaders are my friends and mentors, the party isn’t grounded in terms of structure,” she said. “I thought any coalition would be formed within the PDP, where things are more solid. But that didn’t happen. I couldn’t afford to drop from number two to number five and begin rebuilding structures at all levels—from units to wards, to LGAs and the state—so close to the primaries.”

She added that it made more sense to leave the PDP entirely than to remain and indirectly support the APC from within.
