During his inaugural visit to the Ekiti State police headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, DIG Alabi emphasized the importance of integrating technological innovations into policing operations. He underscored the necessity of tools like drones to gather intelligence and pinpoint criminal hideouts, thereby bolstering law enforcement efforts.
“My mission in Ekiti is part of a larger directive from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at evaluating the strategic deployment of police resources across the six geopolitical zones,” DIG Alabi stated. “We must understand the challenges faced by our officers on the ground to effectively address them, ensuring they have the necessary capacity to deliver exemplary public service.”
Acknowledging the perennial issue of manpower shortages within the force, DIG Alabi expressed confidence in ongoing recruitment efforts as a means to alleviate these constraints. He emphasized that bolstering manpower is crucial for ensuring robust security, which in turn supports economic stability.
Furthermore, DIG Alabi urged police officers to uphold citizens’ rights, emphasizing fairness and respect in their interactions. This, he believes, will enhance the effectiveness of policing strategies and foster a safer environment for all residents.
Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, Akinwale Adeniran, commended DIG Alabi for his proactive leadership and dedication to improving policing standards. He highlighted the successful implementation of community policing strategies under his command, which has contributed significantly to reducing criminal activities in the state.
In conclusion, DIG Alabi reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to embracing technological advancements and addressing manpower challenges as integral steps towards achieving comprehensive security nationwide.
