In response to these events during a conversation with reporters on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, criticized the judgment.

HURIWA commended the NYSC for standing by its assertion that the certificate Mbah showcased was not issued by them. The group highlighted the institution as a model of zero tolerance for corruption.

The group highlighted the judge’s instruction for the NYSC to prosecute Mbah if they genuinely believed his certificate to be falsified.

HURIWA argued that the NYSC does not possess the authority to prosecute Mbah.

The group stated, “A primary concern is the statement made by Justice Inyang Ekwo regarding the NYSC’s ability to prosecute Governor Mbah if they suspected his certificate to be forged.

“This interpretation of the NYSC Act is incorrect as the NYSC lacks the legal authority to function as a public prosecutor in instances of certificate forgery.”
