NYSC Director-General YD Ahmed, during a press briefing on Friday, emphasized the importance of avoiding night travel for Corps Members. He assured that the welfare and security of all members remain a top priority for the scheme.

Recalling the incident, Ahmed said, “You may remember that these members were traveling from Uyo in Akwa Ibom to Sokoto when they were kidnapped on August 17, 2024, along the Funtua Bisau Road in Zamfara State.”

Ahmed detailed the coordinated efforts in Zamfara, involving the Army, Police, DSS, and traditional rulers, to secure their release. He also mentioned a crucial meeting with the governor of Zamfara State regarding the abduction.

“Through the combined efforts of the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army and the NYSC, we began to see results, leading to the rescue of the first group of four prospective members,” he concluded.
