According to Naija News, the NYSC has denied issuing any such directives and clarified that no official instructions have been given regarding account upgrades for the purported new minimum wage.
In a statement, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, described the circulating reports as misleading and unfounded. He emphasized that the NYSC has not received any official notice about implementing a ₦70,000 minimum wage or any related account upgrade instructions.
Megwa stated, “We have been alerted to false information about a ₦70,000 minimum wage for corps members and directives to upgrade their bank accounts. This is completely untrue. No directive has been issued from the relevant government departments responsible for wage matters, and as such, the NYSC cannot issue any related information.”
He further advised corps members, their parents, and the public to disregard these rumors. “Corps members are familiar with the official communication channels of the NYSC and should ignore these misleading claims,” Megwa added.
The NYSC also cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading unauthorized statements regarding the organization.
