Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has asserted that opposition coalitions pose no real threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Onanuga downplayed recent talks of an alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, declaring it incapable of unseating President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
“President Tinubu’s performance will speak for itself,” Onanuga said. “Even if Atiku and Peter Obi merge, they still stand no chance against a Tinubu-Shettima ticket. It’s simply not going to happen.”
He further criticized the opposition’s early political maneuvering, stating, “They are jumping the gun; it’s not yet time for campaign politics. They’re free to form alliances, but we don’t see them as a threat.”
In a related development, Onanuga took to his official (formerly Twitter) account to highlight Tinubu’s pivotal role in the 2015 presidential election. He credited Tinubu with delivering the South-West votes that secured Muhammadu Buhari’s historic victory, pointing out that Buhari’s consistent support in the North was complemented by Tinubu’s strategic influence.
“Tinubu helped Buhari clinch the APC ticket, overcoming tough contenders like Atiku and Kwankwaso. More importantly, he gave Buhari the regional balance he previously lacked,” Onanuga wrote, noting that the former Lagos governor’s backing provided the South-West support necessary to unseat then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
