Ojudu Drops Bombshell: Buhari’s Surprising Reason For Not Backing Osinbajo In 2023 Election
Babafemi Ojudu, a former Presidential Special Adviser on Political Matters, has criticized the leadership style of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, claiming that Buhari did not support former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s presidential ambition because he lacked a clear vision.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an appearance on veteran journalist Edmund Obilo’s State Affairs podcast on Monday, Ojudu reflected on Buhari’s leadership, acknowledging his patriotism and incorruptibility but stating that his vision as a leader was limited.
Ojudu explained, “I think Buhari wasn’t a visionary. I was a big admirer of him during his first term due to his attitude, pattern, and lifestyle. But upon getting closer, I didn’t see much vision. It’s unfortunate, but he is a patriot and incorruptible. He has few personal needs, which are good qualities, but they are not enough for leadership. A true leader needs to have a clear vision, which is what made us celebrate Awolowo as a visionary leader.”
Ojudu’s comments come after Osinbajo, in 2022, contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket but was ultimately defeated by President Bola Tinubu.
In a related development, Garba Shehu, a former presidential spokesperson, has denied reports that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) revoked a plot of land from Buhari. Shehu clarified that the land was legally acquired for the Muhammadu Buhari Foundation by the former leader’s associates, not Buhari personally.
Shehu explained that the land was allocated to the Foundation, which was set up by Buhari’s supporters, and had full legal backing. However, he mentioned that the Foundation faced issues with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) over an unusually high certificate of occupancy fee, compared to what similar organizations were charged. While the reasons behind the FCTA’s land revocation remain unclear, Shehu suggested it could be either an administrative oversight or a deliberate action.
