Okey Bakassi Breaks Silence On Divorce Rumours, Confirms Marriage Still Intact

Popular Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Okey Bakassi has dismissed viral social media reports claiming that his marriage has collapsed, describing the allegations as false and an attempt to disrespect his family.

The rumours alleged that his wife had relocated to the United States to study nursing and subsequently sought a divorce after he spent 15 years supporting her education from Nigeria.

Reacting in a video message shared on his social media accounts, the veteran entertainer explained that the claims were misleading and may have originated from a video in which he discussed politics, which he said was taken out of context.

Bakassi disclosed that the report triggered numerous calls from concerned friends, relatives and fans across different parts of the world, with some also contacting his wife over the alleged development.

He reassured his supporters that his marriage remained intact and urged them not to believe the circulating claims.

“Please, let me say to our friends, family and fans, my wife and I, we are still together. God forbid anything will ever happen to us,” he said.

The actor explained that while he was on a movie set with his colleagues, a social media publication featuring his name and pictures of him and his wife began circulating, claiming that they had separated.

He expressed displeasure over the report, accusing its originator of using his family to spread misleading information online.

Bakassi also emphasised the importance of his wife and children in his life, reaffirming his commitment to his family. He further disclosed that he and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Canada.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actor’s clarification comes amid the spread of social media reports alleging the breakdown of his marriage, claims he has firmly rejected.
