Okpebholo Unleashes ₦1 Billion Annual Scholarship Boom For Edo Students

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved a ₦1 billion bursary fund to support students of Edo origin enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

This was announced in a statement released on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.

Governor Okpebholo made the commitment during a recent town hall meeting with Edo youths, where several youth leaders passionately appealed for financial assistance for students through bursary schemes.

Fulfilling his promise just eight months into office, the governor has now established what is expected to become an annual initiative aimed at reducing the financial burden on Edo students and their families.

To qualify for the bursary, applicants must undergo verification through their respective Local Government Areas to confirm their Edo State indigene status.

Governor Okpebholo stated that the bursary aligns with his administration’s broader goal of expanding access to quality education, promoting academic excellence, and empowering Edo youths to play vital roles in state and national development.
