Ondo Govt Rocks State With Sh*cking ₦700k Recruitment Scam, Officials Suspended

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ordered the suspension of two directors and a deputy director, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Preliminary findings revealed that the officials allegedly demanded between ₦500,000 and ₦700,000 from unsuspecting applicants—amounts determined by their academic qualifications—in exchange for fraudulent appointment letters.

The scam was exposed after some individuals protested their exclusion from the ongoing biometric verification exercise for newly recruited teachers. Investigations later confirmed that many of the protesters had presented forged appointment documents.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the government clarified that the aggrieved protesters were not among the over 2,000 legitimately recruited teachers already deployed across the state.

“The attention of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been drawn to reports of a protest by individuals claiming they were unjustly excluded from the SUBEB recruitment process. To be clear, those protesters were not genuine employees but victims of fraud who were issued fake letters after paying money to scammers,” the statement read.

Adeniyan further disclosed that internal investigations confirmed the involvement of three officials of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), who allegedly conspired with external collaborators to issue counterfeit appointment and posting letters to unsuspecting applicants.

“Disciplinary action has already been taken against the three SUBEB insiders found to have worked with outsiders in defrauding applicants,” Adeniyan added.
