Only Fools Believe That!’ – Gov Makinde Denies Involvement In Land Grabbing Scandal
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed allegations of land grabbing, describing them as baseless and rooted in misunderstanding and misinformation surrounding the Circular Road project and other state initiatives.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan, Makinde emphasized that his administration is focused on sustainable development, adding that critics accusing him of land grabbing are themselves the true perpetrators. “It’s only an idiot who keeps doing the same thing expecting different results. Our past leaders tried their best, but we are taking a different approach,” he remarked.
The governor explained that the Circular Road project is designed as Nigeria’s first motorway, with a 32-kilometer stretch featuring just two exit points, aimed at facilitating development while maintaining controlled access. He further clarified that the project is unlike traditional roads and requires a dedicated corridor for its unique purpose.
Makinde also highlighted his administration’s progress in fiscal performance, noting an increase in budget efficiency from 48% in 2019 to over 70% in recent years. This improvement, he stated, has driven the stability and execution of major projects, contributing to improved living standards in the state.
Addressing the controversial Tax Reform Bill, Makinde criticized its progression to the National Assembly without adequate stakeholder consultation. He revealed that the National Economic Council (NEC) unanimously resolved to suspend the bill’s advancement pending broader input. “National initiatives require alignment and consultation to address reservations and concerns,” he noted.
Makinde concluded by reiterating his administration’s commitment to transparency, development, and addressing misconceptions about its policies and projects.
