The Labour Party has reaffirmed its confidence in Peter Obi’s ability to revive Nigeria’s economy, as stated in a communiqué issued after an expanded stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki. During the meeting, the party called on Nigerians to align with its mission to gain power and elevate the nation’s prospects. Stakeholders encouraged party members to set aside internal conflicts for the greater good of the Labour Party and to focus on improving the lives of many Nigerians.
“The members of the National Transition Committee, NTC, of the Labour Party—Chief Fidelis Nwankwo, Rt. Hon. Linus Okorie, and Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh—convened the stakeholders briefing to update the Ebonyi State Chapter on the party’s future political activities, including member mobilization and registration,” the communiqué stated.
The NTC members shared insights from the 2023 post-election reviews conducted by the national and state working committees, leading to several key resolutions:
1. “His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, remains the National Leader of the Party, recognized for his competencies to rescue the Nigerian economy from its declining fortunes.”
2. “Stakeholders acknowledged the importance of supporting the National Transition Committee in organizing an all-inclusive state congress and national convention of the Labour Party.”
3. “Furthermore, stakeholders urged all feuding members to put aside their differences in the interest of the Labour Party and our objective to improve the welfare of Nigerians.”
4. “A united Labour Party, Ebonyi State Chapter, is committed to aggressively recruiting and registering new members, aiming for a target of 400,000 members.”
The communiqué underscores the Labour Party’s dedication to unity and its belief in Peter Obi’s leadership to steer Nigeria towards economic recovery and growth.
