Ooni Of Ife Empowers Southwestern Monarchs With Supernatural Defense Techniques

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has urged traditional rulers in Yoruba land not to forsake the use of supernatural powers in safeguarding themselves and their territories from bandit attacks. The call was made during the inaugural Yoruba Security Summit, prompted by the escalating insecurity in the Southwest and the tragic killings of royal figures in Ekiti and Kwara states.

The monarch issued a stern warning to traditional rulers who show disinterest in embracing supernatural powers, suggesting that such individuals should consider stepping down from their thrones. He emphasized the importance of upholding Yoruba culture and customs.

Following the summit, a communique, co-signed by the Ooni of Ife and other monarchs, including Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade; Owa-Ajero of Ijero Ekiti, Oba Joseph Adewole; Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, outlined key resolutions. The communique urged Yoruba people to take control of their forests, homelands, and farmlands. It emphasized the need to reinforce the Amotekun Corps through improved motivation, finances, and training, advocating for recruitment of individuals familiar with the intricacies of the Yoruba forests.

Traditional rulers were encouraged to leverage their natural resources, including supernatural powers, to combat banditry and kidnapping, without abandoning their traditional values. The communique called for unity among Yoruba Obas to collectively thwart the threats of banditry and kidnappings, as well as the organization of a Regional Security Summit by Southwest governors.

The summit also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and urged Yoruba traditional rulers to embrace the pristine Yoruba traditional, spiritual, and cultural values. Additionally, it recommended the use of drones and other technology for effective surveillance of Yoruba forests and roads. The security summit proposed quarterly meetings to address evolving challenges in the region’s political landscape.
