Speaking in Makurdi while hosting members of the PDP G-14 and other key stakeholders from Zones A and B Senatorial Districts, Ortom reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and his determination to help reposition it ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described the reports of his planned defection as the handiwork of “mischief makers,” expressing confidence that the PDP would bounce back stronger and more united before the next polls.

Ortom urged party members to remain steadfast in rebuilding the PDP across Benue State. He clarified that although he would not be contesting any elective position, he remains fully committed to supporting PDP candidates at all levels. “I’m not planning to leave the PDP. I remain loyal, and with dedication and unity, we shall reclaim Benue come 2027,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Ortom recently criticized his successor, Governor Hyacinth Alia, accusing him of attacking his administration instead of providing transparency on the state’s financial situation and the recently approved ₦100 billion loan. Through his Media Adviser, Terver Akase, Ortom described Alia’s comments as “baseless and diversionary,” alleging that the governor’s actions were an attempt to avoid accountability over how the state’s revenues and contract awards have been managed since May 2023.
