Tensions escalated in parts of Abuja as a group of aggrieved workers reportedly pursued Wike’s motorcade while protesting unresolved salary and welfare issues.

The incident occurred while the striking workers gathered to press their demands, becoming agitated as Wike’s convoy passed. In video footage obtained by Naija News, protesters could be seen chanting “ole” (thief) and moving toward the minister’s vehicles, demanding urgent attention to their grievances.

Speaking on The ARISE News Morning Show on Tuesday, Oseni acknowledged that while he may not be a supporter of Wike, he commended the minister’s decision to avoid confrontation, noting that the “thief” chants were unnecessary.

“I commend Wike for the way he ran away,” Oseni said. “He could have used force, and with barricades, tear gas, and chaos, things could have gotten much worse. Instead, as Lere confirmed, he chose to take a back route and move away peacefully. I think that was the right call.
