In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, Bolaji Tunji, the minister revealed that the attack resulted in the destruction of critical equipment and left several workers injured.

“This regrettable event raises serious concerns about the need for restraint, dialogue, and the use of appropriate democratic means in conflict resolution,” he stated.

Adelabu stressed that the power sector is vital to the nation’s economy and development, adding that any attack on its infrastructure directly affects the progress and well-being of Nigerians.

“The facilities of Ikeja Electric, which provide electricity to millions of Nigerians—including homes, hospitals, schools, industries, and even military installations—play a crucial role in national stability.

“This attack has set back our efforts to achieve a stable and uninterrupted power supply, dealing a blow to our collective aspirations as a nation,” he added.

The minister further emphasized that no grievance, regardless of its legitimacy, justifies the destruction of public infrastructure.

“Such actions are counterproductive and only worsen the challenges we already face as a nation,” Adelabu concluded.
