Outrage In Delta: Police React As Woman Claims N500k Spent To Free 11-Year-Old From Drug Case

The Delta State Police Command has responded to allegations made by a woman who claimed she paid N500,000 to secure the release of an 11-year-old girl arrested alongside suspected drug traffickers.

According to the woman, officers from the Ekpan Police Division had intercepted a commercial tricycle carrying several individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Among those arrested was the young girl, who was reportedly taken into custody and denied access to her family.

She further stated that during a visit to the station to provide a statement, she discovered the child in detention. She alleged that police officers demanded and collected N500,000 before the girl was finally released.

In a statement issued via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Delta State Police Command condemned the incident and urged the woman to come forward with concrete evidence to support her claims, promising that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
