Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Adeleke accused Oyetola of colluding with key law enforcement officials, including the State Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to destabilize Osun.
The governor claimed that Oyetola is orchestrating efforts to enforce a court ruling that overturned the dismissal of local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
Adeleke clarified that the chairmen were removed before he assumed office, refuting claims that his administration was responsible for their sacking through an Executive Order.
“I convened this press briefing to alert both national and international audiences about a calculated attempt to plunge Osun State into chaos and disorder,” he stated.
He further alleged that the minister, in collaboration with security agencies, was pushing an anti-democratic agenda aimed at enforcing a non-existent court judgment regarding local governments.
“This sinister scheme is being orchestrated by Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, with the active involvement of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and the Commandant of the Civil Defense Corps,” Adeleke asserted.
He emphasized his confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to democracy, rule of law, and due process, stating that the president would not support any unconstitutional act that could lead to violence.
However, Adeleke warned that Oyetola had allegedly finalized plans to incite unrest in Osun, leveraging his influence as the president’s nephew to issue illegal directives to security agencies.
