In an unsettling incident at the Oke-Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, a prison inmate managed to overpower a warder on Friday, seizing the officer’s rifle. Subsequently, the inmate shot and injured a roadside vulcanizer near the facility.
The wounded vulcanizer, struck in the stomach, was promptly rushed to a medical facility for treatment. Meanwhile, the incarcerated individual was apprehended and taken to the ‘C’ Division Police Station in Isale-Ojo, located in the Ilorin metropolis.
The distressing event unfolded at approximately 8:00 a.m., causing a wave of panic and anxiety among residents in the vicinity who sought safety during the unsettling episode.
