Paris Meeting: Femi Otedola Pays Visit To President Tinubu

Billionaire businessman and Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Femi Otedola, has met with President Bola Tinubu during a private dinner in Paris, France.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Otedola disclosed the meeting in a social media post on Monday while expressing support for what he described as the President’s “bold and forward-thinking reforms.”

The businessman pointed to developments in Nigeria’s financial and investment sectors which he said reflected growing investor confidence and progress in the economy. Among the indicators he highlighted were the inclusion of Nigerian companies in the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index, gains recorded on the Nigerian Exchange, increased foreign direct investment and improved foreign exchange stability.

Otedola also referenced Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which he said had risen to about $55 billion, while expressing optimism about the direction of the country’s economy.

“I remain proud of you, Mr. President!” Otedola said in his message.

Otedola’s comments came shortly after FirstHoldCo, in which he is a major shareholder and chairman, was included in the FTSE Frontier 50 Index alongside other Nigerian companies. The inclusion became effective on September 21, 2026.

The meeting took place while Tinubu was in Paris as part of his extended European working vacation. The Presidency had earlier announced that the President departed Nigeria on August 30 and initially planned a three-week working vacation before extending his stay by a few days.

During his time in France, Tinubu also held engagements with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. Macron hosted the Nigerian President to a private dinner at the Élysée Palace on September 17, with the Presidency saying the meeting reflected the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and France and a shared interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Otedola’s meeting with Tinubu adds to the President’s engagements with business and investment figures during his stay in Paris, as discussions around Nigeria’s economic reforms, investment opportunities and international partnerships continue.
