Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Senate Committee on Works, led by Senator Barinada Mpigi, at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Ibas stressed the need for collaboration between the state government and the National Assembly to advance development projects. He noted that the visit, which included a delegation from Julius Berger Nigeria PLC led by Managing Director Dr. Peer Lubasch, demonstrated the National Assembly’s commitment to the growth and prosperity of Rivers State.

Ibas urged continued legislative support to secure necessary resources and backing for the administration’s initiatives, emphasizing that collaboration is essential for maintaining progress and peace in the state. He also highlighted pressing issues such as insecurity and infrastructural challenges that hinder development, despite Rivers State’s status as a key economic hub with vital infrastructure.

The Administrator called for federal assistance to maintain and expand the state’s essential facilities, including roads, bridges, oil and gas installations, airports, and refineries. He stressed the importance of securing financial support and advocacy within the National Assembly to address these challenges.

Since taking office on March 20, 2025, Ibas has prioritized restoring peace and stability, recognizing that a secure environment is crucial for attracting investment and ensuring sustainable development. He expressed confidence that with legislative backing, Rivers State can become a model of peace and progress.

Senator Barinada Mpigi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, assured the Rivers State government of continued support from the National Assembly. Mpigi also acknowledged the role of the State of Emergency in securing critical infrastructure and urged Ibas to continue efforts in safeguarding both infrastructure and residents.
