Pastor Adeboye Breaks Silence, Describes Uma Ukpai As “More Than A Minister

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late revered evangelist, Reverend Uma Ukpai.

Reverend Ukpai, one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian leaders, renowned for his nationwide crusades and global ministry spanning decades, passed away on October 6 at the age of 80.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on his Instagram page, Pastor Adeboye described the late cleric as a “true general in the army of God” and a man of unwavering faith and humility.

He praised Ukpai’s lifelong commitment to spreading the gospel and his exemplary life of service and love for God’s people.

Adeboye also prayed for God’s comfort upon the bereaved family, asking that divine peace uphold them during this period of mourning.

He wrote,

“Earlier today, I paid a condolence visit to the residence of my dear friend and brother, Reverend Uma Ukpai, who has gone to be with the Lord.

Reverend Uma Ukpai was not just a minister of the gospel; he was a true general in the army of our God—a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and uncommon humility. His life was a sermon that spoke louder than words—a story of love, service, and unwavering devotion to God’s kingdom.

He has fought the good fight and finished his race. Now, he rests in the everlasting arms of the Almighty, where there is no pain or striving—only peace, joy, and glory.

To his beloved wife, Pastor Philomena Ukpai, and the entire Ukpai family, we send our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies. May the Lord surround you with His love and grant you strength in this time of loss.

My friend has not died; he has only changed address—from the battlefield to the presence of his Commander-in-Chief. He is home, he is at rest, and he is in the arms of God Almighty.”
