Kumuyi emphasized that pastors should assist struggling church members, particularly widows, by addressing their needs rather than exploiting them for money. He expressed concern over how some church leaders are amassing wealth at the expense of their congregations.

He stated, “Elijah brought value to the lives of those in need, especially widows who could not repay him. This is the essence of our anointing: to uplift those who are struggling.” He criticized preachers who take the little that widows possess, referencing a common belief that if they sow a seed, God will reward them abundantly.

Kumuyi urged sincerity among pastors, questioning the impact of their teachings on vulnerable members. “These widows often believe every word we say and give away their last inheritance, hoping for blessings that never materialize. Meanwhile, the prophets, who are already wealthy, fail to support these widows or their children’s education.”

He lamented that many who give everything as instructed by their leaders end up worse off, while the leaders grow richer. “Today’s preachers are benefiting at the expense of their church members. We need to speak out against this injustice. True ministry should reflect the compassion of figures like Elisha, who provided for the suffering.
