In an official statement posted on the X platform, the party expressed high commendation for the tribunal’s verdicts that upheld the wins of its candidates in both states.
The Enugu State Governorship Election Tribunal, in a ruling on Thursday, upheld the victory of Governor Peter Mbah in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election. Chairing the panel, Justice Kudirat Akano dismissed allegations by Hon.
Chijioke Edeoga/LP that Governor Peter Mbah’s NYSC discharge certificate was forged. The tribunal held that Mbah, having already qualified without an NYSC certificate, did not submit it to INEC to aid his eligibility for the governor’s office.
In a similar vein, the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Wednesday, upheld the triumph of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th gubernatorial election in the state.
The three-man panel, led by Justice P.T Kwahar, dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
The tribunal concluded that there were no compelling reasons to annul the election, as it had been conducted in accordance with the law.
The PDP, reacting to these tribunal rulings, expressed satisfaction with the judges’ decisions and viewed them as a confirmation of the people’s trust in the party, not only in Bauchi and Enugu but also across Nigeria. The party extended its congratulations on the verdicts.
