In an interview with Legit, Olanrewaju argued that the recent crackdown on the cryptocurrency platform Binance could have been avoided with more successful economic and monetary policies from Cardoso and Edun. He emphasized that Binance has operated in Nigeria for an extended period and should not shoulder blame for the naira’s devaluation.

Expressing frustration, Olanrewaju criticized the ruling party for avoiding accountability and shifting blame. He cited instances where the APC targeted parents sending their children abroad for education and Bureau de Change (BDC) operators instead of implementing measures to bolster the naira.

Olanrewaju described Cardoso and Edun as individuals who attained their positions through political maneuvering rather than merit. He lamented the continuation of what he termed a “government of favoritism,” accusing the administration of deflecting blame onto others rather than addressing core economic issues.

He called for the replacement of Cardoso and Edun with competent individuals capable of formulating effective policies to address Nigeria’s economic challenges. However, Olanrewaju questioned whether President Tinubu comprehends the gravity of the nation’s economic situation, expressing doubts about the administration’s ability to enact meaningful change.
